Our Story

WHERE IT BEGAN

Climb & Wine was founded by Emily, an Australian climber who first visited Huaraz, Peru in 2014. During her first trip Emily was able to explore the region and the incredible climbing environment on offer through the help of local guides and friends.

During an evening with a fellow female climber and a few glasses of wine, the idea of Climb & Wine was born to encourage women to build skills and knowledge, and become confident to join the climbing community. A shopping trip followed to purchase all the necessary gear, and word began to spread. Through the help of friends in Australia and abroad the Climb & Wine logo and a Facebook page was developed.

Female climbers are often viewed around the world as not safe, experienced or lacking the physical strength needed for climbing. Climb & Wine hopes to challenge those beliefs worldwide to show the power, strength and ability of every female climber and to empower women to give it their all in the climbing world.

Upon returning to Australia in 2016 Emily realised the potential positive impact creating a Climb & Wine community in Sydney and the surrounding areas could bring. Meet-up climb days were soon attracting many women and men who were looking to meet like-minded people. Overnight camp trips and Airbnb nights soon followed, with the community continuing to grow and many members branching out under the Climb & Wine name to create their own events.

Together we support each other to push our limits and achieve our goals, and when we are not climbing we enjoy a sneaky wine or two! Dates, times, and relevant information will be posted on the Facebook page, along with some awesome photos and information on women kicking-ass in the the climbing world!
